World Farmer Digital Map aims to organize farmer-related challenges in water, energy, food, income, markets, and climate risk into a continuously updated international information map.
World Farmer Digital Map is a foundational information platform project initiated by the World Peasant Organization (WPO). The project aims to systematically organize major farmer issues, SDG connections, potential partners, and public data sources across different countries and regions.
The initial framework covers regions such as North America, Europe, South America, Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Australia/Oceania. It focuses on the real challenges faced by small farmers, family farms, rural communities, and agricultural supply chains, including water, energy, food security, rural infrastructure, farmer income, market access, climate risk, and policy participation.
The purpose of this project is not to build a complex data system immediately. Instead, it begins with public information, policy documents, international organization reports, university research, and regional case studies to create a clear, expandable, and continuously updated knowledge base on farmer issues.
The World Farmer Digital Map will support WPO’s future work, including the Small Farmer Sustainability Brief, Farmer Voice & Standards Program, international conference presentations, collaborative research, and funding applications.
Through this project, WPO seeks to organize scattered farmer-related issues into a structured global framework, helping farmer concerns enter sustainable development standards, food security policies, rural resilience planning, and international cooperation discussions more effectively.
